The ability to communicate ideas that influence people is the basis of all human power on earth. Communication skills are essential to spreading ideas and organizing groups. These are the skills you need to develop if you want to get anywhere.

Influence

Influence is the art of communicating messages in a way that encourages others to act or think as you intend, weather you want them to buy your products or sympathize with your ideas.

Creating Messages

On a successful communicating chance, you can create a compelling message. Anyone who receives your message must oppose your persuasion chance with a willpower chance that is equal or higher. If they fail, they believe your communicated idea with the % of your Persuade test. Attempts to Persuade them against your idea must beat its %.

Influencing Someone

Use this skill to persuade someone to agree to something. You could persuade a secretary to give you an appointment or to negotiate a deal between two parties. Diplomacy includes etiquette, social grace, tact, subtlety, and a way with words. You can change others’ attitudes with a successful test. In negotiations, participants roll opposed Diplomacy tests to see who gains the advantage. Opposed tests also resolve cases when two advocates or diplomats plead opposite cases in a hearing before a third party.

The media you use plays a huge part in conveying your message.

Your relationship with your audience.

Consequences

Generally, retries do not work. Even if the initial test succeeds, the other person can only be persuaded so far, and a retry may do more harm than good. If the initial test fails, the other person has probably become more firmly committed to his position, and a retry is futile.

Special

Charisma tests to influence NPCs are generally untrained Diplomacy tests.

Synergy

If you have 25% or more Deception or Judgement skill, you get a +10% Diplomacy chance. Advertising Advertising is a particular kind of influence used to make people buy products and services.
