Computing
Computing skills are essential to accomplishing almost anything in our Internet-centric age.
You Have To Play To Learn
The first thing you should learn about computers is that you can learn. Many technophobic people have an antagonistic relationship with their computers that prevents them from learning. They use the computer only long enough to get their job done, which takes a long time because they haven't spent time learning how to do things faster.
The more time you invest playing with your computer for the sake of learning, the less time you will waste working with a computer you don't know how to use. Invest time in exploring how your computer works. Try things outside the comfort zone of things you do every day.
Learn To Type
You cannot fully master a computer without learning to type. Once you can type, everything you do with your computer will go faster and be less painful. Learn the typing skill.
"I wrote two novels and I'm only now learning to type. Yes, I hunted and pecked hundreds of thousands of letters to write tens of thousands of words. Think of all the time I wasted sweating over each sentence. Think of how much time I could have saved by learning before I wrote two books!"
