  • Power Strips with 16 ports
  • UPS power supply for uninterrupted operations
  • Audio jack in the middle feeds into a speaker system so anyone at the table can play their audio from the speakers
  • Media director box so the table can play media and operate the security grid
  • 6' diameter round folding table (any size is possible)

Question For You: Where should outlets go? Center or underneath? Look at the attached image and decide.

top

Much more accessible on top but spiders would be better than stips. Cost could also be reduced by having some non-ups'ed outlets for laptops.

Like these power squids? And I have an idea.

I think the UPS will go beneath the table and the power strips will plug into that through the hole.

I also have an idea. In the middle we have just four simple black power cables coming out. We attach four black power strips with velcro to the edges of the table and only have as many on the table as we need plugged in at a time. That way they can stay attached to the table even when it is being moved around or cleaned off.

Is this what you mean by power spiders?

Pretty much

Thats pretty much what I was thinking (well, I was thinking cheaper, and those are much prettier than my mental image). It doesn't matter how large or unwieldy the adapter is, you can allways use all of your outlets. Velcroing extras to the bottom around the outside edge would be a great way to reduce the clutter. Retractable cords would also be nice, but somewhat less practical.

rolling tech carts under the table with necessary UPS and tech

The carts will make servicing under-table tech easy. Anything that is a box on wheels will work.

What about the rest of us?

Might be cool to have some way of refitting the table with the electrical sockets compatible with other nations. But then again it might be cheaper to put up build plans and build one rather than shipping outside the US. This table may benefit from a built in network switch of some kind so one can just plug in and go.

We do indeed have a network switch under the tables!

The table could be built with your sockets, certainly. And it is indeed a DIY-style project although the next versions will be folding and worth shipping for their extra portability and usefulness.
