The icons module adds much-needed visual spice to all the links in the Drupal interface with completely customizable icons for menu items and links to nodes, node types, users and more.
Currently, it uses the icons.module to attach hard-coded icons.js and icons.css files to define what icons should appear where.
The final release will feature a much more powerful adminstration interface for customization. Here is its intended functionality.
Icon Customization
Icons can be specified in several ways:
- node type icons: icons for each node type to make it easy for users to recognize the difference between types of content like events, blogs, stories and audio.
- node icons: icons for each node, uploadable by the node editor or choosable from the library.
- menu item icons: icons for every menu item.
- users icons: Users' pictures are automatically resized into icon versions and users can upload optimized icons for even sharper looking results.
- Users can also choose from a library of included user pictures and icons or upload their own.
Icons are displayed in a sophisticated way.
- Multiple Icon Sizes: You can upload multiple sizes of icons for different font sizes so that links in h1 and h2 can be automatically matched to the pixel font sizes defined in your stylesheets.
Icons Library
Icons module comes with a complete library of icons for all of drupal's most common content types, modules, menu items and more.
- Default Icon Pack: Start with the defaults for immediate results and customize as needed.
- Custom Icon Packs: Package complete sets of customized icons into icon packs for sharing and loading.
- Upload Custom Icons: Upload your own icons for the library or to keep as your private user icon.
