Scoff at my liberal arts education if you will, but I'm a religious studies major because I truly love learning about different religions and their soci-cultural implications. Also, learining about religion is an excellent way to understand the world around you, regardless of your personal beliefs. Personally, I'm an agnostic Jew, but I know most of the world isn't, and its always fun to learn what makes people behave in certain ways.

Religions are cultures that share spiritual beliefs.

Tentatively, I propose to define religions as social systems whose participants avow belief in a supernatural agent or agents whose approval is to be sought.
