Introductions, anyone?
Even since I've joined there have been NUMEROUS user nodes added. How many of us are networked? How many of us share geographical regions? These are questions we can answer if we choose. I, personally, would enjoy meeting and hearing about some new users and how they found out about the empowerment and what they stand for. I'll go first.
I'm from the prairies, smack dab in the middle of the United State of Canada. Winter is approaching fast so I anticipate more time near my humming metal box below me. I found out about this gateway to power on Sean Kennedy's NewsReal a few weeks back and have since enjoyed exploring and contributing ideas when I can. I'm particularly interested in cyberpunk notions, and also the idea of Thoughts as Technology. Thoughts are one of the only free things available to me these days. (I could add more to that but I'll spare you the deep). I'm currently an uneducated fool (aside from high school), enjoying the folly of every day life working in a retail store (we sell work clothes).
I see the empowerment as a place for the most useful of viral ideas to be spread for the good of those involved and for people to get recognition from their peers for good deeds that are perhaps not understood by popular culture. Collaboration potential is GREAT here. I anticipate hearing about the outcomes of our directional chaos down the line.
-adnauseam, forever on into the future.
Oh, let's not forget to check out user profiles. Here's mine

Richard - Founder of BulbMedia
Hi,
I learned about Empowertheyself.com from a presentation Alex made at Barcarmp nov 2007. I am interested in contributing to empowerment, and learning from others who also strive for a greater purpose.
I live in San Diego, and I occasionly travel to Northern California.
I am interested in web development, and independent film making. BulbMedia is a small independent production organization i formed as an outlet for my creative ideas, and my desire to influence the world.
I am currently looking for projects to work on. You can learn more about my from my website: http://www.BulbMedia.com
I look forward to meeting / talking with you and others who post on this site.
there is a need in society for this kind of network...
With the rights of institutions steadily replacing/usurping the rights of communities and individuals, projects like empowerthyself are a necessity for society to stay vibrant, to make it to the next plateau.
I, too, found ET through NewsReal, so Sean, Cimm--if you happen to read this comment, Thank You both. It takes balls, and perseverence to do what you do, and I appreciate it. You've entertained, informed and inspired me over the years.
As far as networking, there have been a lot of ideas floating around here, from chats and videoconferencing to meet-ups. There are a lot of promising possibilities in our burgeoning little community. Now's the time when we need to get our shit together and figure out how to make this thing smooth so we can connect with the rest of society and maybe do some good.
So, grab your keyboard and help make this site what you want it to be--put some of your own flavour into it.

I'm Alex Peake
lxpk = aLeX PeaKe. I created EmpowerThyself.com because EmpowerYourself.com was taken and because of that I still get asked if it is a religious thing unfortunately. At least empower thyself is more memorable and distinctive. I have been evolving these ideas since high school.
I live in Santa Barbara, California and I used to live in Vancouver, BC Canada, where I met many excellent cyberpunks involved with http://www.RantRadio.com. Rant was a big inspiration to keep me going. Getting to know Cimm, Sean, Enki, Mike and all you Ranters is a real treat and being able to help further the ideals Rant stands for is very satisfying after spending many years in the shadows working on this formerly skunk works project that used to be entirely password protected and invite-only. I hope that together we can use EmpowerThyself to expand the kind of empowering community that Rant embodies to a the widest possible audience.
Now it is open and growing and the plans are developing and code is about to be written to take it to the next level and I am almost overwhelmed with excitement at meeting all the new people coming aboard from sources like Viralink and Rant and Barcamp LA and SD where I've presented.
I am in the midst of transitioning to work on EmpowerThyself full-time as soon as I can extricate myself from my excellent but conflicting day job as a coder designer.
I'm glad that everyone can see the promise here while the real funcitonality and user experience has yet to be realized. This is essentially stock Drupal with some themeing and configuration as of yet. When we get the new modules written, this place is going to be a real powerhouse network and personal development tool.
I realize that I don't talk much about myself so much as I talk about Empowerment but that is a reflection of how central this movement is to who I am.
There's no doubt about it-
There's no doubt about it- you talk about empower more than yourself. I think I met you at that Indymedia meeting and all I remember was you wearing a trench coat + empower shirt, and you introduced yourself as something along the lines of, "Hi, I'm Alex Empower Thyself".
Oh, and I'm Angie. From Santa Barbara, CA. I work in data entry/databases part-time for a small publishing co and will soon be seeking a job at the Book Den, a rad used book store downtown. My life is currently centered around the SB Infoshop and getting it up and functional by Jan 21st. Other interests involve long walks on the beach at night, romantic dinners from the dumpster, and embarassing public officials. I love Food Not Bombs (we don't do bombs either!), learning how to make new useful things, and being able to spend as much time with friends as possible (I really don't like being alone, but I do spend quite a bit of time in quiet rooms with just my computer and books).
The SB Infoshop is to become a rad comunity center for radical politics, with a lending library, fnb, and events. It's just gone really smoothly so far and I'm still amazed that it went from planning to actually existing in about 2 months. I'm a productivity wizard and sometimes have to slow down and remind myself that I need to take time off to not organize/work/learn, so that's why I'm here....
Anyone in Blighty?
Is there anyone here from across the pond?
I'm currently putting together an online radio station in th UK - are there any empowered people that want to be part of it? Even if in a different location, it would be nice to meet up with some people in the UK.

Intro
I am currently writing a fiction book about the 'End of the World', and run the greenmilitia.com site.
I'm interested in anything DIY, and that is to the extreme. If we could all learn how to make stuff we buy everyday instead of being consumers, we'd be producers, and if we could learn how to recycle anything, we wouldn't use up all the resources on this planet, think of it, recycle anything would mean old landfills would become goldmines!
