Not getting Kit

I ended up not getting a leatherman wave multi tool. I said to my slef i get one if i had a use for it.

Ive priced the wave at 70-110 Can. just around halifax, Nova Scotia

Over the past year i use my swiss army knife daily and it does what I need to do. Ive never needed a set of plyers, file, or other tools the wave comes with.

Geting kit that you don't need, and just want is wasting your money. 'But i rather have it and not use it than need it and not have it.' I think to my slef. That can apply to things like water, batterys or food. But its hard to pass up cool stuff. Wandering around the army/navy store and like a mangent im drawn to the knifes.

Dealing with want is a personal thing but kit is just so dam cool.

I can relate

I was just browsing through www.sealsactiongear.com and was really having a case of consumeritis.  Seeing all that nice stuff really tweaked my interest.  Since I'm getting closer to wanting a bug-out-bag I took extreme pleasure in contemplating all the things I would need and then looking at the available stuff.  Reality kicked in a few minutes later when I reminded myself about how little money I really have.

It is better to have something when you need it and personally I'd rather not want to be in a situation where I need my bug-out-bag!  There's nothing wrong with being prepared within your limits, especially the financial ones.  Short-term survival (ie. putting bread on the table) outweighs buying something you may never use, imho.

Yes determining what resources you "need" most is tricky

I have a constant queue of things to obtain, most of which I buy not only for myself but also for the sake of reviewing them for DOSPEC.

I want to develop a tool on here for managing lists of priorities like our tech inventory wishlist. All the things we want to spend money on must be weighed against relative priority and available funds. Sometimes the best thing is to buy nothing if saving money for the future means having to work less. The more you work, the less you live life.
