The circle-A, symbolizing the maxim of the founder of intellectual Anarchism, Pierre Proudhon, that "Anarchy is Order". The idea is that enforced order ensures chaos, while voluntary order, an order of freely cooperating individuals, without rulers or state authority, is preferable. The A represents Anarchy, within the circle "O" of Order.
