Skill To Teach
Been sewing since I was a really little kid. Can machine sew a large variety of things, from clothes (have made dresses, shirts, pants, corsets...) to bags (like my tactical spy bag) to other useful things. Also a useful skill for patches, banners, etc. I can definitly teach hand sewing or machine sewing, for repairs or to make new things.

I would be interested in learning, if for nothing else - to add extra pockets to clothes I already have.

Pockets are very easy. Are

Pockets are very easy. Are we talking tactical hidden pockets or outside pockets?

hidden pockets or outside pockets?

Tactical hidden pockets..

Making Kit

Definitely! Sewing is a major skill, and it's always a good idea to carry a minimum sewing kit. Even if you just replace buttons, or repar clothing.

I've even made some small bits of kit, such as a belt holder for a mag lite, and a head strap for the same. I also made a small medicine pouch that also houses a lighter and small folding knife.

If you don't know how to sew, at least in the most basic sense, you're denyiong yourself the ability to re engineer, repair and make your kit.

and maybe at a later date for cosplay

I generally miss out on halloween parties... and other club nights... because I trely have a costume.

Cosplay would be a creative non-utilitarian reason to take up that skill.

cool.

I'm going to teach sewing at the SB infoshop, for those of you who're moving west, and I also wish to eventually pile a basic craftskills zine.

I'm signed up for sewing class in advance, I need to make gear

I'm signed up for sewing class in advance, I need to make gear. Once I learn how to do things properly I need to get some 1000 denier cordura material and PALS webbing materials to make a tactical corset and OICW tacbook sling.

Even dudes sew

When I was a kid my mom was into all sorts of crafts. Hell she still is. She gave me a bear head when I was a kid to play with. I did some horrific things to it. cut it's nose off then sewed it back on and used some freycheck or something something like it to make sure the knots didnt come undone. I sew buttons back on this one pair of fatigues all the time because it's so old.
