Safe Sex Education

Safe Sex Education is the idea that individuals should have access to honest health information about sex. It also includes the idea that Safe Sex is sex that is preformed in a manner that is mindful of STDs. It may also include an assumption that Safe Sex is sex that is preformed in a manner that is mindful of pregnancy as well.

Safe sex could break down to 3 different categories: pregnancy prevention, STD prevention, and consent/rape.

Pregnancy prevention is ofen taught, with talk on varying methods of doing such, byt sex education rarely looks at what to do if these methods fail. Most sex education is funded by the state, so kids in school aren't hearing about what abortion can do, but instead get presentations by groups promoting only adoption. As with the Global Gag Rule, the US only funds sex education in foreign countries that avoids talk of abortion, leading uneducated women to use unsafe methods out of ignorance.

STD prevention is simple: don't be silly, cover that willy! This is also a big topic in today's safe sex education in schools.

Consent and rape is an issue related to safe sex that most schools and parents completely skip over! Even if rape is talked about, many times talk about consent will be forgotten. Schools will send out the message that rape is not all right, yet they will not tell students what rape is- sex without consent, often in a violent, threatening, or forceful way. Consent needs to be talked about much more in safer sex discussions.
