Message boards must maximize the amount of opportunity for agreement if such is possible. Accordingly to utilize the compulsion to post messages and communicate, a message board could require a response to a poll before allowing the person to post a message. To maximize the benefits of that towards agreement if possible, a system using numerical values can be parsed by a data base and interacted with by CGI to rate the post which is being replied to.

I love it
I firmly agree with this idea and would participate in a community that chooses function this way. I like the three catagories you put up for polling. Sadly, it's probably most effective if you let the rest of the community poll posts instead of the creator.
Internet Champions who can be trusted to try and use the tools on a site to their utmost could really make a site better by using a system like this though.
That, and it'd help ME in MY googling!
