Thelema is the religious framework set forth by Aleister Crowley over the course of his lifetime. The most well known of it's maxims being "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law", which is established in Crowley's international bestseller, The Book of the Law (aka Liber al vel Legis sub figura CCXX). The "Do what thou wilt" slogan is properly followed with "LOve is the Law, Love under Will." (Many thelemites leave those parts out in the interest of brevity.) Thelema is a difficult idea to grasp, despite it's seeming simple basic rules. Underneath those libertine admonitions lies masses of slightly reworked Egyptian Mythology, Jewish Numerology, and the supposedly "guided" writing f aforementioned holy text by three divine being operating through a 'prophet' and 'scribe' who was of less than stellar moral fiber or anything resembling prophecy or holiness, but whose lifestyle and legendary exploits seemed appropriate for the spiritual philosophy in question Those wishing to learn more should not consult the works of Crowley directly at first, or perhaps you should. Like most religions, there are infinite ways to approach it, all of them equally valid. But if you find yourself attending a Gnostic Mass, you might want to skip communion. Trust me.
