I'm not really posting the QUESTION of how but merely posting my own as an answer to the question. I am loathe to see this post become solely an analysis of what I'm throwing up here. Whaddup?

Typically my 'empowerment checking' routine involves going to the What's New link (or /tracker) and opening all the 'new' tagged items in their own tabs. I think ctrl+tab through and close ones that I know I don't have anything I want to say to or about. I then try and respond to what is left.

That's pretty much it.

You can now post news stories you find all over the web at sites like Digg.com and Slashdot.org right here on Empowerment Newsing.

Posting news is easy

Click Post a news link in the Actions menu. Add a link to a news story and write or paste a short blurb about the story. Post stories that you think other Empowerment users should see. Discuss the news stories. Build intricate wall charts showing the connections between the news stories and read between the lines for hidden Communist messages to uncover craven plots to subvert western civilzation. Be merry.

Podcasters need news

Some news stories will get picked up by podcasts like our own empowerment.tv podcast so posting news here helps gather information for all kinds of journalists.

This is only the beginning

This is just a functional alpha of an onoing project to develop an ideal Empowerment Newsing system. Check in there if you have ideas for developing the system into something revolutionary. We are developing a Mediapedia newsing medium guide to using the full spectrum of newsing outlets to get the word out about important matters to people who need to know.

Post a great (read: accepted) DIY tutorial with examples and pictures and video and crap and I'll chip in a dollar for ya. That would make 10 bucks if 9 more people make this pledge. 8 for you, 2 for TE!

I want some radio to listen to.

Once we have enough people (10) each person who creates a useable 45 minute long radio show will get 8 dollars to themselves and 2 dollars for TE. I'm looking for some talkin' and not some rockin' so no DJ shows or the like plz.

I'm sure the conditions of what is 'useable' will be hammered out eventually.

If you make a member of the empowerment a netsweat graphics pack I will donate 50 cents to TE and 50 cents to you. If 5 of us do this, it could be a self sustainable form of self employment for a few people as well as a neat fundraiser. A Netsweat Graphics Pack - Forum avatars in multiple formats and sizes. Still and animated gif avatars. AIM / trillian / pidgeon icons. Any other form of graphics file that you think should be included.

Update 2: I resigned! I'm now full-time executive director of EmpowerThyself.

Update: I've given notice to my employer of my intention to pursue Empowerment and they are supportive. I am transitioning more workdays each week to Empowerment and I am in good shape.

My name is Alex Peake and The Empowerment is the result of my constant labor for more than 5 years.

For all this time I have been paying my way and even supporting family members financially whereas many of my friends have families who can help them out.

~~To take Empowerment all the way, I need a source of income that lets me focus on it exclusively.~~

~~I can live on $1000 per month so when I have that much monthly funding I can give notice at my day job and make Empowerment my full-time work for 5 days a week, 8 hours a day.~~

~~I could do it with 100 people donating $10 too. Either way, at $1000 per month total donations the project will officially be in business.~~

I'll keep a log of my activities to demonstrate the revolutionary return on investment that my work is producing for my funders.

Your help is vital to get things started. I don't expect to need your donations forever.

The Fund Empowerment campaign seeks to obtain major NGO funding and once we produce the game all kinds of revenue streams become possible to sustain our work and make us independent from the whims and biases of funding sources.
