Illegality

Offenses

Most activists work within the law because law breaking has serious consequences and is usually counter-productive to the cause and dangerous to activists. Breaking the law will invite negative media coverage and get you charged with a criminal offense.

Vandalism

Vandalism is an offense some activists are charged with for applying their messages via non-removable stickering, postering, stenciling and graffiti.

Vandalism sometimes irritates people and makes them think less of your message. It works against illigitimate regimes in non-violent action but is generally offensive in democratic societies where the targets of stickering are viewed as victims of property damage.

The legal definition of vandalism and the fines vary from region to region.

Civil Disobedience

"Unearned suffering is redemptive." —Martin Luther King

Some activists who are protesting unjust laws make the conscious choice to commit acts of civil disobedience knowing that they risk arrest.
