I prefer irc, as I can actually use that with my chat client.  It might be possible that it supports invites to chats but I can't just find/join one. :-/

I think there is a site specific chat module in the works that will log everything to here. 

 

Nonetheless, if someone makes an irc chat somewhere to use for now I will idle there.  I think freenode is probably our target market.....
