Can we please not use the icons module until it works better?

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but after every single page loads up for me I can count a solid 20 second lag between the page being completely loaded and when the icons appear.  During this 20 seconds the site is completely unresponsive.  This happens in Opera, Firefox, and IE for me.  If it's a personal system issue, such as a java problem, I'd love to hear a suggestion or two to fix it.

It's making the site very hard to work with.

Anyone else having this exact problem?  The site loads, and freezes for 10-20 seconds before the icons appear or an unresponsive script error comes up for me.
