Sandbox Games

Sandbox games give you a living breathing world in which you can explore and follow multiple interwoven storylines at your own pace. Most are third-person adventure games that are action oriented with richly detailed graphical environments and single-player storylines.

Beyond Good And Evil

An action adventure journalism game where you uncover a conspiracy by political elites to falsify a war to justify fascist totalitarian government using propaganda. Your photos expose the truth about what is going on. Armed with her camera, dai-jo staff, and unflinching resolve, Jade plunges into a sinister web to untangle the truth and restore justice to her planet Hyllis. But as she earns the trust of her beleaguered people, Jade discovers that sometimes, in order to find the truth, you must look beyond good and evil.

Shenmue II

The Shenmue games merit close study. Shenmue features an immersive city of autonomous characters and systems with intricately detailed interactivity. The world is open-ended to allow the player freedom to “live”.

Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto is a compellingly immersive city simulation from the street level. It provides a seamless cityscape without loading screens from the perspective of cars, boats and aircraft. It provides flat but convincing-looking virtual people to populate the city and drive cars for the player to steal. Playing Grand Theft Auto feels real. Driving its streets gives the impression that anything is possible within this virtual reality. GTA also had a mission where you used a camera to get compromising pictures of a politician with a prostitute.

Oblivion

Oblivion has a strong first-person perspective option where you get to "be" your customized character moreso than the third-person iconic characters of GTA, Shenmue and others where you can customize apparrel or other cosmetic features.
