Philosophy
Philosophy is the discipline concerned with questions of how one should live (ethics); what sorts of things exist and what are their essential natures (metaphysics); what counts as genuine knowledge (epistemology); and what are the correct principles of reasoning (logic).[1][2] The word is of Ancient Greek origin: φιλοσοφία (philosophía), meaning love of wisdom.[3]

There are many philosophies of life to explore and live by.
Philosophy is not a waste of time.
-Bertrand Russell
Philosophy in many aspects, is the practice of asking questions of a specific nature. Philosophy is the discipline of asking questions about the natue of the world and of human life. The philosopher asks 'What is good? What is the nature of substance? Where do I come from, and where am I going?' Many of these questions can be answered by scientific inquiry, which is not surprising as science has it's origin in philosophy. It was people who were asking these kinds of questions who started major areas of sciences in order to answer them. The areas that have gone unanswered, or have many competing answers and groups of thought are the ones that most people would define as the core of philosophy. These are the subjects of metaphysics, epistemology, and ethics. Though modern philosophy concerns itself cheifly with these topics, it also covers other areas such as science, politics, and religion.
