Sleeping Pad

A sleeping pad is an essential part of a Sleep System. Placed between your sleeping bag and the ground, the sleeping pad provides insulation and comfort, helping you stay warm and well rested.

Thermarest ProLite 4L Sleeping Pad

PRICE: $112 ($100 + $12 sack) MASS: .936 kg ( 2 lbs 1 oz ) BULK: Rolled: 33x13cm (13x5.1") Unrolled: 77x25x1.5"(3.8 cm) LINK: Info CARE: Remember to store your sleeping pad unrolled and opened to minimize wear on the foam. Avoid sharp pointy things that could puncture the ProLite's thin material.

REPAIR: Punctures can be repaired with a patch kit ($8) that you should purchase for extended field use. Finding the puncture can sometimes be time-consuming. COLOR: Top: Orange. Bottom: Black. COMPARISONS: Unless extreme ultralightness is a priority, the 4L model beats all the other ProLites. The ProLite 4L is 25" wide, whereas the R and S models are only 20". 20" is inadequate for sleeping on your back because your shoulders and elbows fall off the sides. The ProLite is smaller than closed foam pads and can be stored inside of a backpack instead of strapped to the outside, which is lower profile in urban areas and more waterproofed. Heavier closed foam pads can be used as improvised splints in case of a wilderness injury. CUSTOMIZATION: Camouflage fabric sprays.

Universal Couple Kit

Survival doesn't have to be lonely. The Universal Couple Kit securely holds any two Therm-a-Rest mattresses side-by-side (20"-30" wide), making it perfect for couples who want to sleep close together but don’t want to get stuck in the gap between their mattresses in the middle of the night. When not in use, it stuffs conveniently into an attached pouch. Weight: 2.4 oz. (70 g) Dimensions: 6 x 5 in. (15 x 13 cm) pocket size Color: Gray Price (U.S.): $9.95

ProLite 4L Compression Sack

INSTRUCTIONS: Open air valve. Lay thermarest down on flat surface. Fold thermarest in half across long middle. Sit on end opposite from valve and slide towards valve, squeezing air out slowly. Fold thermarest into quarter width over middle line, once again sliding up towards the valve. Tighten valve temporarily. Fold quarter-width thermarest end to end into four shorter sections like a collapsing Z. Open valve and squeeze remaining air out. Slide easily into compression sack and tighten drawstring. It is now smaller than most sleeping bags and can fit on the inside of a waterproof pack.

Patch Kit

Thermarests can pop if stabbed by something sharp, and not if but when they do, you will need the patch kit handy to fix your gear. PRICE: $29
