Boot Socks
"There is one item of G.I. gear that can be the difference between a live grunt and a dead grunt. Socks. Cushioned sole, O.D. green. Try and keep your feet dry. When we're out humpin', I want you boys te remember to change your socks whenever we stop. The Mekong will eat a grunts feet right off his legs. Two standing orders in this platoon: One, take good care of your feet, Two, try not to do anything stupid, like getting yourself killed."
—Lt. Dan in Forest Gump, MP3
Socks are ultimately responsible for keeping you on your feet and to neglect them is to jeapordize your footing.
You should own enough pairs of socks that you don't have to re-use them between laundry loads.

Ridge Uniform Duty Socks $4
"I was issued three pairs of the cheap uniform dress socks. By the end of 3 weeks there were already huge holes in all of them. These socks are extremely tough. I've been using them for months now and they show no signs of wear at all. They are also much thicker than standard issue socks so prevent blisters better. Despite being thicker they are extremely breathable and keep my feet very cool and sweat free no matter how hot it gets here."

Wool Socks
