DIY Philosophy
blog posted by doobius Thu, 2007-09-20 02:37 Tags:In the middle of intense conversation I came up with a classification for eastern religion with a focus on individual practice and potential.
Hence DIY religions are taoism, zen, and buddhism. Non-theistic, personal philosophies that lead to personal well being.
Practice, get to know yourself, learn the inner workings of your energy, and how to interact with the universal energy, and everything else falls into place. The mythology of them includes immortality, and special energy manipulative powers. We'll leave that to you to discover, but this type of philosophy certainly sounds a bit more proactive then the dogma based religions of our culture.
I just wanted to write this somewhere.

Simplify

Tags:I've used drupal before, and I always come to the same problem, theres just too much to do. You might notice that the menu on any given page is far longer then the content. This is an issue for the non schizophrenic. If we want a site thats usable by people who want to just learn, then we'll need to simplify a lot.
This site has two basic functions, you can either read, or write. And thus viewing the page could be broken up based upon these functions, and things hidden based upon an access control switch. It would probably take a custom drupal mod, but its still just simple variable check and layout based on it.
The idea is to simplify things down in such a way that people don't get overloaded with the many amazing things on the site. Clarity is key to getting any message across. Can't see through fog, you have to seperate it with moses powers first. Therefore I suggest a moses like split to free everyones eyes from the mass of content creation options for users who just want to read. And vice versa, the content creation side could be done a lot more efficiently, especially using multiple tabs and fire fox extensions.
In essence it would split users accounts into two variants, the view and the edit. Anyone who is editing isn't bothered with all the content stuff(which slow down the sites load time considerably as more queries are executed then need be). Anonymous users and members in read mode would have a shortened menu that seperates the stuff that exists into easily digestable(and navigable) morsals.
The end result would be a dynamically updating "product" that is being edited by many people simultaneously(and transparently)
What say you?
